এক মুঠো খোলা আকাশ - নতুন রূপে - অধ্যায় ৩
Dear Sarit,
I want a suggestion from you. Previously you blocked my story for hurting religious sentiment. If I unknowingly did that then I felt sorry. But tell me one thing, is it allowed to write an interfaith adultery or not? Tell me frankly, I will act accordingly. I have no idea about how a story gets blocked from this site, on which parameter. I am a writer, I only write on theme, not on any agenda.
Many of my readers privately message me to continue the story with the old characters, as they built a poetic connection with them. Probably you are not Bengali that’s why you may rely on Bengali moderator to have changes in the Bengali section. If that person is “Bohurupi Dada” then I would definitely want to have conversation with him in this open thread, so that everybody knows the boundary before reporting on my story. But before that I want to brief you the story theme in English as you might not understand Bengali.
This is the story of a married woman Nandini Chatterjee, who first time visited a backword mus'lim dominated village named Hakimpur for an election duty. There she met a local officer named Jahangir Rubel Hassan. Then the story goes on how the man Jahangir trapped her into a sexual adultery.
So, basically, it’s an interfaith adultery story. Previously I might use some words which seems to be inappropriate according to some readers, although I have no such intention to do that. But tell me one thing very clearly that is it not allowed to write interfaith story in this forum? If it is not, then I have to compromise with my creative thinking, which usually I don’t want. If I skipped mentioning the part where I profoundly express their identity and their religious differences to make it more thrilling in the reader’s eye, then will it be ok to write in an interfaith genre?
Once I heard about a news of a writer named Neelima Steven, who writes lot of interfaith erotica and published her books in the popular websites Amazon. That sparks outrage and then all her books had been turn down from the website. But Amazon is not an Adult Website, they might have some restrictions to follow the norms, but in this forum how much a writer pushes her boundary?
Is it totally wrong to write such stories? Then what’s the meaning of creating an adult site? I know if I continued with the original form of this story then again there will be several objectional reports will come on this thread, and you will put this thread again to that closed group from the normal thread. That’s why I want to talk with your Bengali moderator who used to check all the reports in Bengali sections. I badly need a conversation with him in this open thread to create a certain periphery in which a writer can write safely in future.
I have already written approx sixteen chapters of this story, and now due to fear of getting blocked I have to censor it which is very painful for me as a writer. It feels I cut my child’s nose, ear, mole to make him more presentable in front of a judgemental society.
I tried to rewrite this story with changing name but couldn’t able to connect with the story anymore. I just want to know that if I skip mentioning their religious identity repeatedly and start mentioning their norms in the subjective manner instead of being objective, then would it be ok to proceed with the old names? Most of my readers irrespective of any community want the older version with minute changes where the religious identity will be subtle not vibrant.
I genuinely want your opinion on this, because I don’t want my story to be restricted again. I want this story to be available in the normal threads for all readers, and I am pretty sure it will increase the engagement of this section as well as forum. Now it’s up to you.
Over to you Sarit……
